Anderson One

Williamston, S.C. - The South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) has released the 2023-2024 School Report Card ratings.

Anderson School District One continued its Tradition of Excellence, with all eligible schools receiving an overall report card rating of meeting or exceeding the established criteria. Specifically, more than 80% of eligible schools in Anderson One received a report card rating of Excellent (substantially exceeding the criteria) or Good (exceeding the criteria).

According to data released by the SCDE, these schools are among roughly 44% of schools in the state that received a rating of Good or Excellent.

Seven schools in Anderson One also received a Palmetto Gold or Silver designation for their success in the classroom.

“This is another example of the hard work and dedication our teachers and staff pursue to ensure our students are provided the opportunity to learn at high levels,” said Superintendent Dr. Seth Young. “We are excited to take this opportunity to celebrate all our students accomplished last year, and we still believe the best is yet to come in Anderson One!”

“While we are continuously looking for ways to improve, it is important to take a step back and celebrate the consistency of our instructional program in Anderson School District One,” said Chief Academic Officer Brad Moore. “The school report cards are evidence that our district remains focused on high levels of learning for our students."

The school report cards highlight academic achievement at the elementary, middle, and high school levels and also provide insight into other key areas, called ‘indicators,’ including academic growth, college and career readiness, graduation rate, school climate, and student safety.

“I am incredibly proud of West Pelzer Elementary School's excellent rating on the State Report Card,” said Amy Bagwell, Principal of West Pelzer Elementary. “This recognition reflects our commitment to growth, driven by the hard work of our collaborative teacher teams, the outstanding achievement of our students, and the unwavering support of our staff, community, and families.”

“Powdersville High's excellent report card rating is a testament to the work of our students, staff, and community,” said Dr. Adam Lanford, Principal of Powdersville High School. “We are proud to continue the tradition of excellence established in the Powdersville schools and Anderson 1."
