Williamston, S.C. - Anderson School District One is excited to announce that West Pelzer Elementary has been named a finalist for the 2025 Palmetto’s Finest Award by the South Carolina Association of School Administrators (SCASA).

West Pelzer is one of just twelve schools statewide selected as a finalist.

“Being named as a finalist for SCASA’s Palmetto’s Finest award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, staff, and families at West Pelzer Elementary,” said Principal Amy Bagwell. “Our commitment to student growth is evident in our rigorous instructional programs, innovative teaching strategies, and strong professional learning communities. Our school culture is one of support, collaboration, and a shared belief that every child can succeed. We are honored to be recognized for our accomplishments in these areas.”

“Being recognized as a finalist for this recognition is a tremendous honor,” said Superintendent Dr. Seth Young. “It is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of the teachers, administrators, support staff, and the students at West Pelzer Elementary School.”

The Palmetto’s Finest Award recognizes schools across the state that exemplify excellence through innovative, effective educational programs.

According to SCASA, the selection process includes an onsite evaluation and a comprehensive application process that examines several areas including student achievement, instructional programs, professional learning communities, and school culture.

The finalists will undergo a second onsite evaluation. The winners will be announced on South Carolina ETV on April 30, 2025.
