Anderson One names new principal of West Pelzer Elementary School

West Pelzer, S.C. - Anderson One is proud to announce Miranda Leopard will step into a new role as principal at West Pelzer Elementary. Leopard will succeed Amy Bagwell, who is retiring at the end of the 2024-2025 school year.

Leopard has been the assistant principal at West Pelzer Elementary for three years where she has worked closely with teachers and staff to foster a collaborative environment and positive school culture. Before becoming an assistant principal, Leopard spent 8 years supporting teachers and students as a reading coach at West Pelzer.

"I am honored to serve as the principal of West Pelzer Elementary School, a place that has been my home for the past 10 years,” said Leopard. “West Pelzer is more than just a school, it is a family; a community that comes together to support, uplift, and inspire our students. Together, with our dedicated staff, families, and community partners, we will continue to build on our tradition of excellence, ensuring that every child is challenged, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential."

“Over the last several years, West Pelzer Elementary has seen tremendous growth in student achievement thanks to the hard work and dedication of students and staff,” said Superintendent Dr. Seth Young. “Mrs. Leopard played a key part in this accomplishment and I am excited to watch her build on this momentum as she transitions into her new role as principal. I am confident that she will not be satisfied with the status quo and the students and staff at West Pelzer will continue to be recognized for their outstanding student achievement.”

Leopard will transition to her new role July 1, 2025.
