🌟 Exciting Times in Second Grade! 🌟
We’ve had a whirlwind of fun in second grade over the past few weeks! 🎉 Our Fall Ball was a blast as students dressed up as their favorite book characters and danced the day away with friends. 📚💃
We also dove into some creative learning with our text feature surgery, where students "operated" on passages to remove text features! 🩺✂️ It’s amazing to see their enthusiasm for reading and exploration.

🌟 Happy Veterans Day!
Today, we honor and express our gratitude to all veterans for their service and commitment to our country.
We also want to celebrate our amazing 3rd graders! They showcased their talents by singing 50 Nifty United States, and a few other songs. They worked incredibly hard. We are so proud of their efforts!
After the performance, our PTO hosted a Veterans Day breakfast. Thank you for your partnership in providing this to our Spearman family Veterans and our community.

Fall Break
November 4 - 5, 2024

Fifth grade students recently enjoyed a visit to Roper Mountain Science Center. There they had the opportunity to investigate the causes of a warehouse fire by studying the chemical and physical properties of substances. They also helped the Roper Mountain staff discover why the dry ice was disappearing from the supply cabinet. They concluded the day by visiting the planetarium. There they experienced riding a virtual roller coaster on Mars. It was a great day to be in fifth grade!

At Spearman, we believe reading isn't just about books; it's about building future leaders and role models.
When our students engage with stories, they learn valuable life lessons and develop a sense of community. Let's continue to encourage our children to embrace reading and recognize its impact on their lives and the world around them.
Thank you to all the men within our community that came in this morning to help foster a culture of reading and community involvement by reading to our classrooms. Together, we can inspire the next generation, because Real Men read! ✨ #ReadingMatters #CommunityInvolvement #FutureLeaders

🌟 Celebrating Our Student Leaders! 🌟
Today, our 4th and 5th graders took charge of their learning by leading conferences with their families! They confidently explained their test data, work habits, and goals for the year. We are so proud of our proactive students!

Over the past month, our Kindergarten class has been exploring two exciting themes - community helpers and apples!
Students have learned about the important roles that firefighters, police officers, doctors, and many other professionals play in supporting our community. They have been fascinated to learn about these vital jobs.
We also celebrated "Apple Day" with a variety of engaging activities. Students made apple pie play-doh, painted with apples, and ended the day with a delicious apple tasting. They loved exploring the different colors, shapes, and flavors of apples.
It has been a fun and enriching month of learning in Kindergarten!

Our Kindergarten classes had a wonderful visit from Miss South Carolina Teen! She read the book "Polly and the Screen Time Overload" to the students, which sparked great discussions about balancing technology use and spending quality time together with family and friends.
Her platform, #HangUpandHangOut, encourages students and families to be mindful of device usage and prioritize meaningful interactions. Events like this help reinforce these important messages in an engaging way for our young learners.
The students were thrilled to meet Miss South Carolina Teen and loved hearing the story.

Today, 5th graders had a blast celebrating the novel they just finished, "Home of the Brave." Students came dressed as their favorite characters and they did all kinds of fun activities centered around the book.
Of course, no celebration is complete without some of Kek's favorite American treats - French fries with ketchup, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate candies, and chocolate milk. The students devoured these delicious snacks and had the biggest smiles on their faces. Which went along great with what Kek thought - that chocolate made your mouth smile. 🍫
